EMBRACING THE HOLY
SPIRITUAL DIRECTOR TRAINING
Embracing the Holy is a training program for individuals who wish to explore their spirituality and discern if they are called to become a spiritual director. The program is now offered via distance learning and, for Portland, OR locals, through onsite participation at the Urban Spirituality Center.

ONSITE PROGRAM OFFERS BOTH A DAY AND NIGHT SCHEDULE.

Onsite Program Day Class
September through September
1st Tuesday of each month; 9:30 am to noon

18 classes: 10 classes conducted in the classroom,
8 classes conducted independently.

Embracing the Holy will help you explore and value your own spirituality through training exercises, interpersonal experiences, lectures, reflection, and creative expression. The gifts of listening, being present, and creating a safe space are the primary tools for the spiritual journey.

Once these are in place, you will learn about the history and types of spirituality and about the journeys of others. You will explore practices that will help you embrace the holy in your daily life. You will review your own story and, through a deep connection to your heart, soul, mind and body, your work in the world and the universe. And you will learn to help others on their journey.

Lectures are facilitated by James Galluzzo. Some of the 18 topics include the following:

The Art of Listening
Discernment
Bearing Witness
Healing
Being Fully Human
Four Models of Spirituality

Diversity as Gift
Prophets and Mystics
Forgiveness

Onsite Program, Evening Class
The onsite, evening program is not being held 2018-2019.
